Writer's Block: Almost Famous [09 Mar 2009|12:10am]
What celebrity do you think looks like you? What celebrity do other people say you look like?

People always tell me I look like Anne Hathaway but I don't.

Writer's Block: Close Encounters of the Celebrity Kind [08 Mar 2009|09:59am]
Have you ever met a celebrity in real life? Who was it and how did your paths cross?

Joshua Jackson. I was at richards on richards for the Peter Bjorn and John afterparty. Me and my friend megan were dancing and then we noticed Josh next to us on the dance floor. Megan was all "it's the guy from Dawson's Creek" and me being a die hard fan of the Mighty Ducks movies freaked out a little bit. We talked to him and danced with him for a while but we didn't want to bug him too much since he was just out with his friends partying.

I've also met various bands and other famous people but usually at concerts and stuff, not just in everyday life.

Writer's Block: Better to Receive [27 Dec 2008|06:46pm]
Sometimes it's the thought that counts, and other times it's the thing itself. What's the best gift you've ever received, thoughtful or otherwise?

The best gift would have to be my first two kitties that I got 9 years ago a couple days before Christmas. One was a birthday gift and one was a christmas gift! My second best gift ever was probably the stuffed kitty that Toban made for me at build a bear. It was orange like my kitties, played "The Stars Go Blue" by Ryan Adams when I squeezed his belly, and his name was Scruff Adams. He was named after a kitty that we had seen at petcetera named Scruff Dog, combined with Ryan Adams. It was not only cute, but Tobs put a lot of thought into it which made it that much better!

Writer's Block: Gone but Not Forgotten [04 Dec 2008|08:14pm]
Many beloved television shows are no longer with us, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Six Feet Under, and Mystery Science Theater 3000. What defunct television show do you miss the most?

Freaks and Geeks!!!

Writer's Block: One Hit Wonder Day [25 Sep 2008|05:56pm]
Today's National One Hit Wonder Day. Whole albums or entire ouvres can be quite impressive, but more often than not, individual songs have the largest impact on us. Which one hit wonders have played a major role in your life?

Mine would definately have to be mmmbop by hanson!

You're not a landmine, you're not a goldmine, no you're not mine at all. [02 Mar 2006|12:27am]
Woo! So Ben Lee was awesome as per usual. It was a bit different from the last few times but it was nice he switched it up so we wouldn't get bored (not that we would but that's not the point.) This time he didn't have his full band. It was just him and Lara (on percussion, keys and backup vox) but really you couldn't tell the difference. Richards is such a good venue. It's really too bad it's gonna be closing down.

I don't really feel like writing out the setlist but it was a nice mix of old, new, and brand new. I hope there's a new record on the way. I know he's been writing songs with Robert Schwartzman (Jason's brother) lately. Anyways. At one point, I think it was between songs, he like was looking at me and he walked towards me and i'm like "uh, why is he looking at me" and he's like "do you have a myspace? I recognize you from myspace." That was weird but pretty cool. haha I've only had a myspace for like a week and he is one of my friends but I haven't posted on his site or anything so I was taken aback.

We gave him a sweetass david hasselhoff shirt that we got made at bang on. I know it sounds pretty lame that we made him a shirt but whatever. There's a story behind him and the hoff and I have a shirt like it too and well, the hoff is just cool.

So he's coming back in May? apparently anyways. opening for someone. but we can't figure out who he's opening for. He couldn't give us details yet. I'm hoping tegan and sara. he said something like a year ago about them touring together but for some reason I don't think that's it.

But yeah. It was fun. Definately made up for the crap of work this week that's for sure. I need to rest up for tomorrow night. I'm not at all sure what I'm gonna do during the day though. I thought about going and seeing Capote but I don't know if I feel like hauling my ass to the theatre.

So today was pretty cool and stuff. I'm very excited about what we made today. I think it is better than any gift that has ever been given, including the knight rider t-shirt (and I was VERY excited about that.)

I definately had a few too many late nights (and they weren't even that late, it was like midnight or 1am) and I am not feeling very good at all. Basically I went three nights without 8 hours of sleep or more and I got sick. How do some people manage on like 5 hours a night. I don't understand. I kind of feel bad about not going to Jason's but I was/am definately in no shape to go clubbing and stuff.

From the journal of Jason Mraz. [05 Feb 2006|09:11pm]
Breaking News for the Bored: When using the T9 feature while text messaging, a strange and unusual phenomenon has been occurring spotlighting similarities of certain words, meaning the letters that correspond with the numbers used to write a word could be decoded or scrambled to reveal other words that bare an uncanny resemblance to the original text. Of course Einstein’s theory of relativity proves that everything is related, I find it amusing to do my own research to back him up, in case you had your doubts.

Each number on a phone represents three letters that can be used to type. The number 9 has four. When I type in the numbers 5683, it spells “love.” But that’s not all it spells. I could also have spelled the word “loud.” Love can sometimes be loud, right? To love is to project in some way, similar to that of being loud. Coincidence? It also spells “Jove.” Jove is the Greek equivalent to Zeus. That’s right, almighty Zeus. In roman mythology, Jove would be called Jupiter. King of the gods, and now refers to the largest planet in our solar system. Is love not loud and often times the largest thing in our local system?

Here are a few other choice findings that will amuse you.

The word “Number” could also be “Ounces.”
And “Kiss” = “Lips” = “Lisp” = WEIRD.
Weird = Where (cause you always want to look)
Money = Moody (cause that’s the truth)
Mood = None (cause who needs it?)
Eat = Fat (duh)
Hands = Games
Body = Anew
Soft = Poet
Honey = Gooey
Coke = Cold = Bold
Hola = in LA
Child = Agile
Roads = Sober
Surf = Pure = Sure
Boss = Corp
Beaver = Beat Dr.
Stop = Runs
Angus = Bogus

And here are some favorites!

Chewbacca = chez a abba (pretty stupid)
Notre Dame = Mouse Fame
Hong Kong = Gong Long (like the movie, too long)
Cotton Panties = Bottom Panther (the greatest!!!)

More righteousness coming up as soon as I think of it.

I need for Ben Kweller to come back here. I wish he was playing with Ben Lee but I doubt it. :( They're playing together next week in Connecticut. That would be amazing. There is sweet merch on his website though. I want the hoodie and the tank top. Pam, if you go to his website and just let it play it's like Ben Kweller radio. It just keeps playing his songs. It's sweet!

I heard Ryan Adams in Winners today. Sadly, that was probably the most exciting part of my day. But it was sooo nice out today! Plus it was like still light out at 4:30! I'm loving that!

Hung out with Pam last night. We drove around listening to kweller and metric and went to TH and stuff. Then we went and saw Tony but that was kind of weird so we left. But it worked out 'cause we went back to my house and had a long talk and stuff and that was good.

I'm getting more into reading again. I go through phases and I'll read a lot for a while and then just stop completely. They're starting to film the next harry potter movie I'm all like "I HAVE TO FINISH THE BOOK" plus I just have so many books to read that I need to get moving. But yeah. I guess I have an hour and a half to kill before grey's anatomy is on...bleh.

While in starbucks this evening what song was played? The Hardest Part by Ryan Adams! I couldn't really hear it and then came my favourite line and I realized what it was and did my little excited squeal thing. Yeah, that was pretty neat. I'm a big loser.

Work blew. I don't wanna go back tomorrow. I guess I don't have much of a choice. Half the day I felt like I was gonna sneeze but I couldn't. That's not a good feeling. I'm very much feeling on the verge of sickness.

I'm doing laundry and I nearly forgot to put the clothes in again. It's amazing how often I do that.

So it's actually been a pretty sweetass week...well other than work. Roosters was fun. Rob rode the bull. Today was sweet. Hanging out with pam and chelsea was super fun. Dance dance revolution kicks ass and I want those cats!! I'm super tired though. I was like that a lot at work this week, had trouble sleeping one night and pretty much since then I've been super exhausted. and then last night I definately didn't get enough sleep. Yarg. Well, I guess I should go to sleep now then. I must make sure I get enough sleep and I open tomorrow so yeah. I guess that was a pointless post. ah whatever.

Things are looking up. This week has been great so far (aside from all the stuff that went wrong at work yesterday like somehow I broke the intercom at one till, and the printer at another, fernie not coming in, my huge headache..etc. lol) but yeah. my mom found this kickass looking program at sfu that I'm actually totally interested in, from what I've read so far. I'm not so stressed out at work anymore with getting stuff done I'm like completely caught up and shit and that's great. Brad is back and that is great. I mean yeah there are some cool new people and stuff but even though they're cool it's just not the same. Brad is one of us. AND BOWLING NEXT WEDNESDAY! I am so freaking beyond excited about that. There are other good things about the week so far but the commercials have ended so back to gilmore girls!!!

Damn You ANinja! [09 Jan 2006|08:47pm]
Ground Rules: The first player of this "game" starts with the topic "5 Guilty Pleasures" and people who get tagged need to write an LJ entry about their 5 Guilty Pleasures as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 5 people to be tagged and list their names.

1. Hilary Duff
2. The Family Channel
3. Pink Is The New Blog http://trent.blogspot.com
4. Pillsbury Chocolate Chip Cookies
5. Sex And The City

Um, I tag chelsea, pam, toban, stu and rob.

I just saw 3 movies within 24 hours. I need to stay away from the theatre for a bit. lol Last night I saw the Producers with Leah and Jordan (where I ran into Carter and Olivia.) The movie was alright but for me it was TOO broadwayish. Yeah, I know it's a musical, but it didn't translate as well to the screen as I had hoped. It was pretty much exactly the same as it was onstage but somehow on screen it felt cheesy. but I still have mad matthew broderick love.

This afternoon I saw Brokeback Mountain with Leah and then this evening went with Chelsea to see Narnia. Really liked both of those..I think brokeback mountain was my favourite though. There were a few things that I'm not sure I made complete sense of though so I think I'm gonna have to see it again.

Anyways, I'm pretty much super tired and don't have much of anything interesting to write about so off to bed.

I have too many cds! I am currently ripping them so I can put them on my mp3 player (yes my dad went and got one today that actually works!!) I have probably ripped about 60 albums so far and I'm so not even close to being done. I'm gonna be up forever. I probably don't need all that music on there, but what the hell. Ooh, I nearly stepped on the damn thing a little while ago 'cause it's sitting on the ground hooked up to my computer but it is not yet broken. Phew.

I keep freaking losing things lately. I lost my keys for the whole weekend, found them on tuesday and they had been at iga the entire time (go figure.) Lost my sweater on christmas. I'm not sure how. I was wearing it. I took it off for a while and I had thrown it down somewhere and then an hour or two later when I went looking for it I couldn't find it anywhere. what the hell! It is seriously nowhere. I also keep losing my nametag. It had been missing for a few weeks and I found it last week, wore it like twice and lost it again. Oh, and I lost a starbucks gift card. damnit! Well it was only 5 bucks but hey, that's a drink. Woah man, I have hardly gotten starbucks lately. Twice in the last two weeks. :O Also cannot find two of my jack johnson albums. Damnit Jenn.
